About Me
Katie Ingersoll came into the field of sign language interpreting because her sister was born deaf. She’s provided sign language interpreting for UCSB classes and events since 2001. Prior to that she worked for 15 years at Independent Living Resource Center, Inc. Katie served as ILRC’s Interpreter Coordinator and Civil Rights Advocate for People with Disabilities. Katie was a principle cast member and interpreter for Access Theatre, a professional national touring theatre company featuring original productions showcasing performers and play writes with disabilities. Katie’s BA degree is in Music from California State University, Humboldt. She came to Santa Barbara to study opera for an additional five years at the Music Academy of the West before entering an interpreter training program at CSUN and SBCC. She is currently a candidate for the new National Interpreter Certification from RID/ NAD.
