This guide is designed to show you the steps required to request any equipment you have been approved to use for exams. Don't hesitate to contact your Disabilities Specialist or call 805.893.2668 if you have any questions.

Steps for Requesting Exam Equipment:

  1. Are you approved for this accommodation? Please be sure to indicate your need for approved equipment when you are making a proctor request in the portal. Do not check off this equipment on your proctor requests if you do not intend to utilize it during your exam.

  2. Students who have been approved for equipment use during DSP exams will also need to complete the DSP Exam Equipment Loan Form to reserve equipment for their exam. The link is also available in your Service Agreement in the Services tab of the Portal. Equipment requests must be submitted at least 72 hours in advance of your exam to guarantee equipment. Please contact the Adaptive Technology Specialist if you require training on equipment operation before your exam.

  3. The DSP student picks up the requested equipment before the exam from the front desk of the Testing Center (UCSB Map), even if your exam location is elsewhere on campus. Your proctor is not responsible for this step.

  4. The DSP student returns the loaned equipment to the Testing Center after their exam. Please note that the proctor will return laptops after the exam as it now houses completed exam answers.
