My name is Katie (they/them), and I’m a 4th-year Psychological & Brain Sciences and Film & Media Studies double major, with a minor in Applied Psychology! At UCSB, I am an exam coordination assistant with the Disabled Students Program, and I also serve as a peer advisor and front desk worker at the Film and Media Studies Department! I have been involved as the President of many clubs, including Gaucho Gaming, UCSB Esports, and Marginalized Genders in Gaming! In my free time, I love listening to live music, watching films, and making new friends!
Why did you want to be a DSP Peer?
I became a Peer Mentor to cultivate a strong disabled community on campus. In my future, I am hoping to complete a PhD that focuses on Critical Disability Studies! I’m looking forward to meeting and chatting with all of you during our events.
Tip for fellow students?
My biggest tip would be to reach out to others. College is so much easier when you reach out to others for help and friendship. Join clubs, labs, jobs, whatever you need to meet new people and find your support system
