On campus, Melika serves as both a DSP Peer Mentor and a Health Equity Intern, with both roles centered around student care and promoting overall well-being. She is also involved in research at the Weimbs Lab and serves as the Marketing & Outreach Coordinator for NeuroUCSB.
Why did you want to be a DSP Peer?
She chose to become a DSP Peer Mentor because of her passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs and helping them navigate academic life with confidence. Having seen the impact that strong support systems can make, she was inspired to be a resource for others and help foster an inclusive and empowering environment on campus
Tip for fellow students?
Melika’s biggest piece of advice for fellow students is to stay organized and plan their days intentionally. As someone who thrives on a busy schedule, she relies heavily on her Google Calendar to stay on top of her responsibilities and commitments and would definitely recommend using it to plan out your schedule.
