Hello! My name is Niya (she/her). I love anything and everything creative, from painting and sketching to crocheting and jewelry making. I also love going to the beach to stargaze and spend time by the ocean.
Why did you want to be a DSP Peer?
I wanted to become a DSP Peer Mentor to help build a supportive community for students and guide them through the processes of getting the accommodations and resources they need to succeed in college. I also want to help students feel comfortable advocating for themselves and their needs. I’m excited to give back to a program that provides so much support to students.
Tip for fellow students?
A tip I have for fellow students is that it’s never too late to start something new or give something a try. College is the place to explore, so don’t let the feeling that you’re “too late” stop you. There is always time to learn, explore, and find something new that you enjoy.
