Bio

My name is Simone (she/her). I love reading, hiking, and going to cafes. My current favorite books are Annihilation, Piranesi, and Babel. I am also the treasurer of the Women in Law club and officer in SIDES club (Students for Inclusivity and Diversity in Environmental Studies) here at UCSB. I’m looking forward to doing more hiking around Santa Barbara this year!

Why did you want to be a DSP Peer?

I wanted to become a DSP Peer Mentor to support students and guide people to important resources. Disabled student programs have helped me so much throughout my academic journey, especially by teaching me how to navigate my disability in an educational setting and giving me helpful resources. I hope to give back to the program that helped me succeed as a student and help create a supportive community for students with disabilities at UCSB.

Tip for fellow students?

One tip I have for fellow students is to always ask and put yourself out there! Most people here, whether they be professors, graduate students, or other staff, want you to succeed academically and otherwise. I would also recommend being involved in campus because it's fulfilling and is great for building connections and community.
